Community Groups Hammer Out United Position on Section 18C.

Representatives of the Indigenous, Greek, Chinese, Jewish, Korean and Greek Cypriot communities have resolved to continue their campaign against any attempts to repeal or weaken the section of the Racial Discrimination Act which prohibits racial vilification. After discussing the issue for three hours on Thursday, the group agreed to seek a further meeting with Australian Attorney-General, George Brandis.

Canberra, 20 November 2011: The Australian Hellenic Council (NSW) has added its efforts to the Armenian National Committee of Australia’s largest ever Advocacy Week. The activities commenced in the national capital on Sunday with the ‘Advocacy in a New Era’ seminar. For the first time, representatives of the Armenian, Hellenic and Assyrian communities of Australia assembled together to discuss common goals and interests.
